A new 10% reciprocal tariff on UK exports to the United States, announced by the Trump administration, will take effect on 9th April 2025. This tariff is in addition to any existing duties, fees, taxes, or charges currently applied to imported goods—including the existing 25% global tariff on cars—unless specifically exempted.

What Does This Mean for UK Exporters?

  • If your product currently faces a 4% US import duty, the total duty will rise to 14%.
  • If your product currently faces no import duty, it will now be subject to a 10% tariff.

This change affects a wide range of goods, so it's important to review your product classifications and prepare accordingly.
